Things to do at and around Dog Creek Lodge


Dog Creek Lodge is surrounded by over 1 million acres of public land.  There are adventures to be had throughout the area.  

At Dog Creek Lodge, we offer Nordic Skiing, Snowshoeing and Fat Biking on our groomed trail systems in the Winter and we offer Canoeing, SUP's, and swimming on Dog Lake as well as trails for hiking, biking and exploring during the summer months for our guests. We have horseshoe pits, fire pits, fishing holes and fishing poles.

Guided Fly Fishing Trips

 

Dog Creek Lodge is now offering guided fly fishing trips through a Lakestream Outfitters. We offer local walk and wade trips on a variety of small creeks for brook trout, rainbow trout, and native cutthroat trout. Private spring creek fishing is available at the lodge with experienced guides as well. We also offer guided drift boat fishing on the Flathead River, Clark Fork River, and on high mountain lakes. Booking early in advance is advised to get you on the water with the best guides.

• Full day trip is $550.00, 7-8 hours. 

• 1/2 day trip is $395.00 4 hours.

Dogsledding 

Nearby, we have two awesome opportunities to go run with the dogs. Butch and Sara Parr run Winterwoods Dogsled Tours and Jeff Runs Dogsled Adventures. This is a great activity for couples and those looking to take a break from the downhill and nordic skiing.

Snowmobiling & ATV's UTV's

Dog Creek Lodge is just three miles away from great snowmobile (winter) and dirt (summer) access whether you have your own machine or want to rent and take a tour. Our friends at Northwest Montana Adventures/Winter Wonderland Sports have everything covered.

Whitefish Mountain Resort 

Dog Creek is a 45 minute drive from some of the best downhill skiing Northwest Montana has to offer. Whitefish Mountain Resort also has some fabulous summer activities for the entire family as well. Downhill skiing, snowboarding, zip lines, mountain biking, hiking, wining and dining are all part of the scene. go BIG!

 

DOG CREEK LODGE FAQ’s  

 

  • Can you accommodate more than 34 guests on site?

 

Our venue can accommodate larger events, but we do charge a $1500 event fee for anything that requires extra logistics, cleaning, staffing and any event that has more than 34 guests using the facilities any time during the contracted rental period. Our lodging can accommodate 34 guests based on double occupancy in king and queen beds. 

 

We have three “dry” cabins - no plumbing - that can be rented in addition for up to 8 additional guests. These are currently rented at $100 per night plus lodging tax and are not included in full resort rentals. A bathroom and shower is located on the creek side of the restaurant accessible from the patio for cabin guests. For an extra camping fee, we can accommodate tents and small RV camping on site as well with porta potties taken into consideration 

 

  • Can we use any of the lodge vehicles, i.e. side by side for guest use at our event?

 

We do not rent out lodge vehicles. Guests have limited vehicle access to the meadow with their personal vehicles. The meadow can be accessed for transportation of guests with limited mobility, vendor set up/take down and special needs, overflow event parking, etc. 

 

  • Do you have amenities for kids? 

 

We have two pack and play cribs, one in the main lodge house and one one in the guest lodge available for guest use. We have high chairs and booster seats in the lain lodge house for small children/toddlers. Our event lodge and game room as well as the toy shed has something for everyone.

 

  • What are the details regarding Dog Lake?

 

Guests have access to Dog Lake either by the meadow below the lodge or by a walking trail from the main lodge parking area. In the summer months, entire resort rental guests have access to canoes, kayaks, a small john boat and SUP’s. Preservers and paddles are provided in our gear shed. Preservers are required to be worn on the lake per Montana law. 

 

  • Do you have mountain biking and hiking trails?

 

Dog Creek Lodge has carriage roads/trail systems that we use for our Nordic operations that can be used for hiking and biking by lodge guests. We do not maintain specific mountain biking and hiking trails on our property, but the Whitefish Trail, Flathead National Forest and Stillwater State Forest all have roads and trails suitable for these activities. Mountain bike rentals are available in Whitefish.

 

  • Do you have WiFi?

 

Yes. All of our buildings are connected and have satellite internet suitable for work, streaming, etc. 

 

  • Is there food on site?

 

Our restaurant hours vary and the menu and hours are regularly updated on our website. We are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner in the winter as well as lunch and dinner during spring, summer and fall. We can accommodate special events with prior planning.

 

  • Can we bring our own food and drink?

 

Yes. The main lodge house has a fully stocked kitchen with commercial amenities including a walk in fridge, dish room and 6 burner propane cooktop. Guests can do a shopping run in Whitefish or Kalispell. We offer catering services for food and alcohol if parties are interested and can offer a vendor list for events. Our event lodge has a kitchenette with a fridge, sink, coffee maker, microwave and toaster oven available for all guests onsite. Guest lodge rooms have a mini fridge and coffee maker. 

 

  • Do you have a hot tub?

 

Not yet

 

  • Do you have a noise policy?

 

No. We are surrounded by public land and are in a remote location. If your group has rented the entire resort, you can have events that last late into the evenings. We do have staff that live on site and neighbors, but we have no noise ordinance at this time. If your group has rented just the main lodge house or a hotel room, we ask you to respect other parties on site. 

 

  • Can we check in early or check out late?

 

During certain circumstances, we can extend the hours of your reservation with an additional fee depending on other reservations before and after your rental time period. 

 

  • Do you allow Dogs?

 

Yes, we have a $25 per pet fee. They are not allowed on any furniture. Pets must be picked up after. We have some dog beds that are available for guest use in our main lodge house and guest lodge. 

 

  • Where is the closest town, airport, etc.?

 

Whitefish is 30 minutes away. Glacier International Airport - Kalispell is just under 1 hour away. Eureka is 35 minutes away, Columbia falls, 40 minutes, Kalispell 50 minutes, Bigfork 1 hour…

 

  • What about Glacier Park?

 

Currently, there is a reservation system through recreation.gov to access Glacier Park through all entrances during the summer season. The West Glacier entrance is the closest at approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes away. Details online. Plan ahead. If you book tours or other services within the park, they will have park access details. 

 

  • Do you have shuttles?

 

No. Rocky Mountain Transportation, Arrow Shuttle, Whitefish Shuttle & Tours all offer shuttle services for larger groups. It is best for groups to have rental vehicles and logistics figured out before flying into Kalispell. 

 

  • Are your accommodations ADA Accessible?

 

We have one ADA compliant room and several ground floor rooms suitable for guests with limited mobility in our guest lodge. Our Main Lodge house and Event Lodge as well as the surrounding grounds are fairly easy to get around, but do have uneven, unpaved surfaces and stairs to reach different levels. 

 

  • Are there bears/wildlife we need to be aware of? 

 

Yes, we have a multitude of wildlife around the property, so please be prepared when hiking, hike in groups and carry bear spray. Most importantly, know when and how to use it.  We have both Black bears and Grizzly bears in the area. 

 

  • Can we shoot guns?

 

We do not allow shooting on our property. There are some gravel pits and shooting ranges nearby on public land that allow it. 

 

  • Can we have campfires?

 

Yes, in the established fire pit depending on current fire restrictions. 

 

  • What is your cancellation policy?

 

All guests inquiring about entire resort accommodations will be provided with a contract and invoice detailing reservation payment terms and policies as well as price breakdown and venue details.
